Parameters

The parameters window is only accessible to the administrator. The window allows the administrator to set the original values of the game and set behavioral rules for positions played by the computer, using preestablished rules.

Description of decision making rules:

The description of the decision making rules can be obtained by clicking on the help button (the question mark) that is visible on each player’s screen. In these rules, we sometime refer to inventory levels. Inventory levels are the sum of the physical inventory and all products that have been ordered (but not yet received) from the supplier, minus your backorders.

End customers demand (Lumber client and Paper client)

In this section the administrator can set and then change the demand of the end customers.
Demand can be set according to diverse predetermined rules. The administrator chooses the style the demand will follow and then set the necessary parameters to generate the demand profile. Following this it is possible to graph this demand and make changes to it.

All positions, except the Forest

By default all positions are assigned to actual players.
The administrator must set the initial inventory for each position and the initial quantities that are in transit and waiting to be ordered. The administrator also sets the number of weeks to be played and the delay between positions.

One or more positions can be played by the computer. The same parameters need to be set as those for positions held by actual players, but the administrator must also choose the rule that will be used to generate orders. A list of choices is available (same as for final customers) and the administrator needs only to assign the values of the different variables. Clicking the question mark will open a window explaining each rule.

Forest

1- The Forest has a section called “Supply plan”, where the administrator enters in the minimum and maximum values to be harvested each week. The maximum quantity that can be harvested during the game is also entered here.

2- If the position is played by the computer, the harvest will be generated according to the rules chosen by the administrator.
